Lost in Thought: Drawing a Character's Inner World

A creative writing and visual storytelling workshop with Sierra Louie

What does a thought look like? How do you give shape to a feeling, a memory, or something that can't quite be put into words?

Join Paper Covers Rock Writer-in-Residence Sierra Louie for a fun workshop exploring the space between words and images. Drawing on techniques from cartooning and poetry comics, participants will experiment with shapes, textures, and abstract marks to bring a character's inner world to life.

Through a series of creative exercises, you'll explore ways to express thoughts and emotions visually, ultimately creating your own four-panel comic that combines writing and imagery.

No drawing or comics experience necessary! This workshop is about experimentation and expression, not artistic technique. Writers, artists, and curious beginners are all welcome.

What to bring: A character from something you're writing, someone you've imagined, or simply yourself. You can approach the exercises as fiction or as a form of visual journaling.

$20 (or pay-what-you-can), with light snacks and beverages included
